We have built a multilingual and innovative app that is designed to address the massive challenges and unmet needs around family planning and maternal health across Sub-Saharan Africa. We support adolescent girls and women of reproductive age gain self-agency through our deep belief in centering compassion, control, informed-decision making and choice in our care model. We are a women-founded and African startup with a goal to serve the over 280 million women of reproductive age across the continent while pioneering the future of SMART and sustainable health-tech services. Accountant
This is an opportunity to lead accounting and fundraising efforts with a fast growing startup in a thriving industry.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Records
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with Ethiopian accounting standards and company policies
Record daily financial transactions, including expenses, revenues, payroll, and bank transactions
Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records and supporting documents
Financial Reporting
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Support monthly closing activities, including reconciliations of bank accounts, cash, payables, and receivables
Prepare financial schedules and reports as requested by the Head of Finance and Fundraising
Budgeting & Cost Control
Support the preparation and monitoring of project and departmental budgets
Track expenditures against approved budgets and flag variances
Assist in cash flow tracking and working capital monitoring
Compliance & Taxation
Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and regulations
Prepare and support timely submission of tax filings (VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, etc.)
Support external audits and respond to audit queries as needed
Fundraising & Donor Support
Maintain accurate financial records related to donor funds and grants
Assist in preparing financial reports for donors and investors
Support documentation required for fundraising proposals and financial due diligence
Operational Support
Process payments, manage petty cash, and ensure proper authorization of expenses
Coordinate with banks, vendors, and service providers on financial matters
Support ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance,
2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a startup, Wholesale, or manufacturing organization
Strong understanding of Ethiopian accounting practices and tax regulations
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Experience in preparing financial reports and reconciliations
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
High level of integrity and confidentiality
Ability to work collaboratively with finance and non-finance team members
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
Fluency in English and Amharic is required
Additional local or international languages are an advantage. Passion for learning and problem solving
Actively engage and network with local and external investment firms for potential collaborations
Represent and advocate for the productive financial health of YeneHealth
Fluent in English and Amharic; additional languages are welcome
