Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Commission, Daughters of Charity Development Coordinating Office (DOC) looking to hire accountant for its head office.
Position: Accountant
Location: Addis Ababa
Salary: Negotiable
Duration: 1 year with possible extension based on performance
Prepare financial statements and reports.
Perform day-to-day financial and accounting transactions.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and internal policies.
Prepares appropriate classification of codes for each transaction for recording;
Analyzes the recording of transactions and performing posting; Prepare financial statements;
Ensures that the financial reports of branches are properly tracked, recorded and consolidated, statement of income and expenditure account, cash flow statement, balance Sheet and other financial statements issued timely and properly;
Closely follow up the timely payment of payables no balance is carried forward at the end of each month.
Prepares appropriate classification of codes and postages of all relevant transaction documents on the various control and subsidiary ledger accounts; and proposes additional or new codes if necessary;
Provides branch offices with professional assistances in performing accounting activities; follows up the financial reports of the branches;
Facilitates and follows up the preparation and communication of project financial reports as per commitments made with funding agents
Ensures that financial documents, ledgers, journal vouchers and supporting documents are maintained and organized in accordance with the accounting system of DOC;
Make sure that no receivables and payables are outstanding at the end of the year.
Education: BA degree in accounting and finance or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCE:
NGO experience is advantageous;
A can-do attitude and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while working with people of diverse personalities;
Solution focused with the ability to work quickly, accurately, and timeliness;
Report writing skills;
Basic knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, QuickBooks, or others);
Strong Excel and numerical skills;
High level of integrity and attention to detail.
