Background: The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of diseases of public health importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI is seeking a qualified and motivated Public Health professional to support the ongoing activities of the Strengthening Health Innovation Ecosystem in Ethiopia (SHINE) project specifically to work on the following areas:
Collect, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative indicators [Indicator tracking]
Ensure clean datasets, any documentation and version control [Data management]
Support baseline, midline, and endline studies with clear methodologies [Evaluation design]
Draft concise, evidence-based reports with visuals and summaries [Reporting]
Feed findings back into program design and policy [Learning integration]
The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigators and research team to ensure that all processes meet project and the Institution standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the PIs and co‐investigators to support the Team and AHRI systems.
Prepare, organize, and finalize all documents required for partners and stakeholders
Document experience shared and lesson learned
Design out warding activities of business development, IP right application and registration by including analytical and clinical validation summaries, SOPs, risk assessment
Make diagnostic market overview analysis
Coordinate with the research team to ensure proper execution, systematic records documentation of project activities
Participate in project meetings, provide progress updates, and contribute to scientific and administration process
Liaise with partners and relevant stakeholders’ offices to support timely engagement and involvement
Perform other related duties assigned by the PI or AHRI scientific leadership
Develop different health related ToRs, SOPs for the scientific team and other technical working groups.
Prepare project grant writing and submission and project grant administration
Accountability: The employee will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) and collaborate closely with AHRI’s SHINE Team
Required Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, reproductive health and related disciplines
Experience with health project management, coordination and leadership
Familiarity with Ethiopian Health System and structure
Experience in developing different health related ToRs, SOPs for the scientific team and other technical working groups.
Experience project grant writing and submission and project grant administration
Excellent scientific writing, documentation, and communication skills in English
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Minimum of four years and above of relevant work experience.
Salary: As per AHRI’s contract employ salary scale
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, AHRI
Terms of Employment: Contract for eight months possible for extension based on performance and availability of funding
