It has been active since 2012 and exports over 40 high quality value added agricultural products which meet world relevant standards to three main destination countries such as America, Canada and Australia and other locations. Moreover, it distributed such products to local market. Nowadays, in line with government trade, marketing and development strategies, it strives to produce world class products of having high demand across the world. This effort has allowed it to start to generate foreign currency and create job opportunity for 500 Ethiopian youths.
Now it is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Supply Chain Director (Purchasing) to oversee procurement. Overall, s/he processes, manages supply side relationships, and ensures the smooth flow of raw materials and goods throughout the factories supply chain system. The ideal candidate is expected to l have a strong background in procurement raw materials mainly agricultural products, logistics, and inventory management, with the ability to develop and implement strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance. S/he directly reported to ABYS Trading PLC General Manager and more than five procurement staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Purchasing:
Having Ethiopia’s supply chain trend and practice, develop and manage purchasing strategies to meet the organization’s operational requirements
Identify, negotiate with, and establish partnerships with reliable suppliers and vendors,
Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and evaluate new sourcing opportunities,
Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services, aligning with production and
operational needs,
Optimize cost savings through effective vendor selection, volume purchases, and contract Negotiations,
Supply Chain Management:
Coordinating other departments, oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, including planning, reporting and on time financial settlements,
Coordinate with internal departments (such as production, finance, and sales) to align procurement activities with business goals,
Develop and implement strategies to improve supply chain (procurement) efficiency and reduce lead times
Monitor inventory levels and establish controls to prevent stock outs or excess inventory,
Implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
Planning and Reporting
Prepare activity, procurement and spending actives in line with Ethiopia’s agricultural seasons and submit their reactive reports on time
Plan bulk purchase and collect ideas from concerned
Coordinate with warehouse, fleet transport and other departments and prepare joint planning of supplies
Ensure weekly/monthly/ quarter/ biannual and annual plans and reports of supplies are done on time
Coordinate with export team to priories supply activities
Make sure that vehicle plans are in place
Ensure that Annual Leave Plans are prepared and submitted to HD/Admin at the beginning of the fiscal year
Plan sector meetings and deliver their reports with minutes
Determine buffer stock and revise planning accordingly
Conduct assessment with potential suppliers (farmers unions and vendors) and ensure smooth supply of raw materials
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery timelines, cost savings, and supplier quality,
Prepare and present regular reports on supply chain activities and purchasing metrics to management,
Use data analytics to identify trends and areas for improvement within the supply chain (procurement),
Compliance & Sustainability:
Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements,
Promote sustainable procurement practices and support initiatives to minimize the environmental
impact of the supply chain,
Adapt local culture and maintain uninterrupted supply of agricultural products,
Ensure that S/he’s staff manage and settle financial documents in compliance with ABYS Trading PLC financial and procurement policies/rules/procedures
Proactively engage in country’s financial, procurement and tax policies/rules/procedures
Partnership Management:
Keep smooth communication with external stockholders (Unions, farmers, vendors etc)
Exercise effective communication with staff both vertical and horizontal
Organize stockholders for mutual benefit

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
MA/BA degree in Procurement related fields of studies; Supply Chain management; Marketing; Accounting and Finance; and Business Administration and/or Management or equivalent
Experience:
Respectively, MA/BA 3/5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, and supply chain management (Agricultural input consuming factories and the environment is a plus)
Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, sourcing strategies, and logistics operations,
Experience working with ERP systems and supply chain management software,
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills,
Strong problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making,
Ability to work under pressure, to manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines,
Knowledge and understanding of Ethiopian production seasons is preferred,
Knowhow and sensitivity to ISOs are a plus
