The assistant teacher supports the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, disciplined, and high-performing learning environment. You will play a vital role in bridge-building between the students and the curriculum, ensuring that no child is left behind during lessons.

Reports To: Lead Class Teacher / Department Head

Employment Type: Full-Time

Language: Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory; proficiency in Amharic is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional Support:

  • Assist in the delivery of lessons in alignment with the Ethiopian National Curriculum.

  • Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning concepts, particularly in English, math, and science.

  • Help prepare teaching aids, charts, and laboratory materials.

  • Classroom Management:

  • Supervise students during transition periods, lunch breaks, and playground activities.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment (wall displays, seating arrangements).

  • Uphold the school’s disciplinary policy with a firm yet empathetic approach.

Administrative & Clerical:

  • Assist in grading homework, recording attendance, and maintaining student progress files.

  • Support the lead teacher in preparing for Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings.

  • Help organize school events, such as Nations and Nationalities Day or annual closing ceremonies.

Student Welfare:

  • Monitor the emotional and social well-being of students, reporting any concerns to the lead teacher or school counselor.

  • Provide basic first aid or guidance to the school clinic if necessary.

Job Requirements:

Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in education, English, or in a related field.

Experience: Minimum 0–2 years of experience in a private school setting is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

Strong communication, patience, and basic computer literacy (MS Word/Excel).
