Job Summary

The Cashier is responsible for providing efficient, professional, and customer-focused cash handling and transaction processing services within the Enterprise. The role requires strong cash handling skills, accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail while ensuring smooth financial transactions and positive customer service experiences.

The Cashier is responsible for receiving and recording payments, issuing receipts, balancing daily collections, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with Enterprise financial procedures and regulations. The position also supports the daily operational and administrative activities of the Enterprise as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service Responsibilities

o Greet customers, clients, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
o Provide prompt, respectful, and courteous customer service.
o Respond to inquiries related to payments, receipts, and financial transactions.
o Handle customer concerns professionally and report unresolved issues to supervisors.
o Maintain positive relationships with customers and stakeholders.
o Thank customers and clients for using Enterprise services.

• Transaction Processing Responsibilities

o Receive cash, cheque, transfer slips, and other approved payments accurately.
o Process cash, bank, digital, and other approved payment transactions.
o Issue official receipts, invoices, refunds, and change accurately.
o Record all financial transactions properly and timely.
o Handle payment vouchers and supporting financial documents carefully.
o Maintain daily cashbooks and transaction records.
o Balance cash drawers and reconcile cash collections at the beginning and end of each working day.
o Prepare daily cash collection summaries and reports.
o Facilitate timely bank deposits and maintain proper deposit records.
o Ensure proper documentation and filing of all transaction records.

• Operational and Administrative Responsibilities

o Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cashier working area.
o Ensure availability of receipts, stationery, and transaction materials.
o Assist in administrative and operational support activities when required.
o Coordinate with finance and administrative staff regarding financial documentation and verification.
o Support implementation of Enterprise financial control systems and accountability mechanisms.
o Follow all Enterprise financial policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
o Alert supervisors and management about discrepancies, shortages, or operational issues.

• Security and Compliance Responsibilities

o Adhere strictly to cash handling, financial security, and internal control procedures.
o Safeguard organizational cash, receipts, and financial documents.
o Prevent, identify, and report any suspected fraud, theft, or financial irregularities.
o Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling financial and organizational information.
o Participate in financial verification and audit activities when required.
o Comply with Enterprise rules, Ethiopian financial regulations, and organizational policies.

Salary

Qualifications

• Education

o Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.

• Experience

o Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience in cashier, finance assistant, customer service, or related positions.
o Experience in healthcare institutions, hospitals, enterprises, NGOs, or private organizations is advantageous.
o Previous experience in customer handling and financial transaction processing is preferable
