Ruftana Trading PLC would like to recruit qualified and competent applicants for its Hotel, located in Afar, Semera, for the vacant position listed below.
Position Title: Chef
Reports to: Hotel Manager
Location: Afar - Semera
Job Purpose
The Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality international and local (Ethiopian) dishes, managing mass cateringservices, and handling food preparation for events and functions while maintaining hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, cook, and present international and local meals according to set menus
Plan and execute food services for events and large-scale catering
Ensure timely preparation and service of meals for large groups
Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation
Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards
Manage kitchen operations during events and peak service times
Monitor proper storage and handling of food items
Minimize food waste and control portion sizes
Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Perform other tasks as requested by his superior
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
TVET Certificate in Food Preparation, Level III or IV certificate in food preparation
Three or four years proven experience as a Sous Chef, or One or two years experience as a Chef, preferably in catering services, hotels, or event management environments.
Strong experience in mass catering and event food preparation
Good knowledge of Ethiopian and international dishes
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Skills & Competencies
Excellent cooking and food preparation skills
Strong time management and organizational ability
Attention to detail and cleanliness
Teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including event days
