Haile-Manas Academy (HMA) is a premier, private, co-educational, Grade 9-12 boarding school established for the education of Ethiopia’s most promising and motivated secondary students.
On a recently constructed, well-equipped campus, HMA aims to provide its students a world class education and strives to help transform the education available to all Ethiopian students. HMA is located in Debre Birhan.

Our teaching faculty is mission-driven Ethiopian and international educators. As Haile-Manas Academy continues to grow in size, it has potential opening for teaching faculty in the subject areas of: Economics, History, Chemistry, and Geography.
We are seeking a passionate teacher, who thoroughly enjoys teaching, excels in their ability to reach and support students and takes endless pride and countless hours to design inspiring and engaging lessons, teaching units and learning experiences. We seek a compassionate, hardworking and resilient individual capable of dealing with unforeseen challenges. We seek an individual who works well with others. As a boarding school, teaching life extends well beyond time spent with students in a classroom. Tutorials, clubs, services, study hall supervision, field trips and ongoing school wide activities also form part of a teacher’s responsibilities. Working at a boarding school requires a genuine commitment to serve as a role model within the community and be an active part of the community
Academic Responsibilities
Working in close collaboration with the Senior School Administration, Grade Level Deans, and Department Heads, design and provide well-thought-through, documented lessons, units of study, projects, and other learning opportunities that are engaging, show a depth of subject competence and allow students to develop and demonstrate critical subject skills, knowledge and understanding.
Consistently incorporate technology into the students’ learning experience.
Consistently monitor, assess and track each student’s development, providing the necessary support to ensure academic excellence and overall development.
Consistently provide regular and varied student assessments and record results in the school’s gradebook system.
Consistently provide professional and regular feedback to students providing the necessary support to ensure academic excellence and overall development.
Develop inquiry-based/project-based learning experiences for students.
Co-Curricular Responsibilities
Participate in leading/supporting various student clubs and HMA service-learning activities
Develop student leadership through HMA's clubs and services learning programs
Residential Responsibilities
Advise students academically and socially emotionally and be the point of contact for families
Be actively involved with the residential curriculum
Be part of a team that designs and supervises community experiences on Saturday afternoon and Sunday) approximately two times a month
Salary and benefits commensurate with experience, with on-campus housing and meals for candidates who meet the criteria for living on campus.

Qualifications
A Master’s Degree in the subject area you are applying, along with a postgraduate diploma in teaching, is preferred, while a combination of other degrees will also be considered.
A minimum of Five (5) years of teaching experience at the secondary school level.
Exposure to international secondary school curriculums is preferred.
Proficient in Email usage, Google Suite and using technology in the classroom.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and fluent in English
Competence in using technology in the classroom
