About the Company

We are a well-established and rapidly growing FMCG manufacturing company operating in Ethiopia, dedicated to producing high-quality consumer goods for the Ethiopian markets. As we scale our operations and enhance our financial systems, we are looking for a seasoned and detail-oriented Chief Finance Officer to strengthen our finance team and ensure robust financial Management and compliance.

Summry of the position

The CFO will serve as a key strategic business partner to the General Manager, responsible for overseeing all financial activities, enforcing cash discipline, and driving profitability in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep expertise in industrial finance, cost management, and capital structuring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Define and execute the company’s financial strategy, advising on capital investments, expansion plans, and risk management.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Establish robust budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis frameworks to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Cost Management: Design and implement advanced cost accounting systems to monitor yield performance, production efficiency, and wastage, with the goal of reducing cost per ton.
  • Cash Flow & Working Capital: Implement strict cash flow management discipline and optimize inventory, receivables, and payables cycles.
  • Capital Structuring: Lead the structuring of financing solutions for expansion projects and working capital needs, engaging with banks, DFIs, and investors.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure full compliance with IFRS, Ethiopian tax laws, and regulatory frameworks while overseeing internal and external audits.
  • ERP & Systems Development: Lead the implementation and optimization of ERP systems to ensure real-time financial visibility and data integrity.
Job Requirements

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree (MSc/MA/MBA) in Finance or Accounting.
  • Certification: ACCA certification is advantageous. CPA, CMA, or CFA certifications are also highly desirable.

Professional Experience

  • Work Experience: Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role (CFO, Finance Director, or Group Finance Manager).
  • Industry Experience: Proven track record in the FMCG, manufacturing, or agro-processing industry is essential.
    • Advanced financial modeling and cost accounting.
    • Strong understanding of FX and commodity markets.
    • Proven experience in fundraising and working capital management.
    • Deep knowledge of IFRS and Ethiopian tax regulations.
