Position:
Organization: Doctors with Africa CUAMM
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the clinical team leader will oversee activities of the health facility and clinical team members to ensure compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality clinical care for patients.
The overall purpose of the role is to:
Lead on changes in clinical practice and ensure quality service provision in the facility.
Monitor and enforce standards of client and clinical care, including routine checks, post-op queries, and correcting or improving performance where appropriate.
Promote blood donation campaigns and blood bank activities.
Support strengthening of integrated nutrition services - health center - community with special focus on children < 5 years old and pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Provide direct client care in Health Centers.
Ensure and support proper referrals
1. Coordinate clinical activities
Coordinate and supervise the activities of clinical team members engaged in clinical care for patients.
Coordinate the clinical activities with the team members, including the pediatrician.
Ensure a smooth and productive working environment
2. Team Supervision and Staff Development
Brief the clinical team regularly about the quality of patient care and ensure understanding of all CUAMM policies and procedures.
Develop and implement good quality practices in the health facility.
Provide guidance and mentoring to the team members
Providing support and guidance to other HCWs
Motivate, train, and coach team members and provide feedback on individual performance.
Carry out team member appraisals and follow up on outcomes of individual team member development plans.
Participate in annual facility-based planning and monitor achievement of the plan, and provide feedback.
Monitor and evaluate the activities of the health facilities timely manner
3. Communication and collaboration
Facilitate communication within the teams, departments, and health managers of the health facilities
4. Quality Assurance
Maintain clinical standards of patient care
Ensure compliance with the relevant National Clinical guidelines, policies, procedures, and documentations.
Provide technical support to quality and HMIS departments.
5. Blood bank
Maintain the relationship with Axum Blood Bank and Suhul mini Blood Bank/Laboratory
Organize and supervise the blood donation campaigns
Organize need assessments with the blood bank in Axum
Work closely with the staff members of the blood banks
6. Community
Support technically on the implementation of training for HEWs
In communication with the supervisors of HEW, support the HEW in providing health education and promoting health awareness
Support the activities in the communities
Support for vaccination campaigns
Participate in active case searching of outbreaks and mobilization in collaboration with other partners.
BSc degree in health officer, nursing, or medical doctor
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in staff management
2 years in NGO supervisory or team leadership roles
Experience working with Blood Banks and Health Centers, plus experience working with HEWs, are assets.
Knowledge of the basic MS Office package
Valid license for a health officer, nurse, or medical doctor
