The communication intern will support the project’s communication, documentation, and networking activities by creating social media content and print materials that highlight key messages, achievements, and lessons learned related to adolescent sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, and gender-based violence. She will assist in producing learning products, developing radio/TV communication plans, and ensuring alignment with CARE and GAC branding guidelines. The intern will collaborate closely with project teams, government offices, local NGOs, and media outlets to strengthen networks, enhance visibility, and ensure consistent communication across platforms. Additionally, she will collect rolling profiles, stories and visuals from the field, document milestones and best practices, maintain communication material repositories, and support the dissemination of knowledge products through various digital and print channels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Responsibility #1: Media (30%)            

The intern will be responsible for producing and supporting the following deliverables:

  • Support the creation of social media content and graphics (Telegram, LinkedIn, Facebook) project’s showcasing key messages, learnings, briefs, updates, and achievements for national and global audiences.

  • Contribute to the design and development of print or post products such leaflets and posters (for social media platforms and print products) highlighting adolescent sexual reproductive health and nutrition and gender based violence, especially community-based activities and messages tailored to in-school and out-of-school adolescents.

  • Produce learning products, including briefs, case stories, rolling profiles, and progress markers, and field visit findings for dissemination to stakeholders (government and INGOs).

  • Collaborate with field team to identify local radios/TVs, make audience analysis, develop ToRs for radio/TV spot airing

  • Contribute to the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned through internal and external forums (such as webinars), ensuring visibility and knowledge sharing.

  • Collaborate with the project team to compile and summarize project achievements, lessons learned, case stories, and briefs focusing on out-of-school adolescents, and develop a brochure tailored for government sector office staff.

  • Support the packaging and formatting of materials for print and digital distribution. 

  • Collaborate with CARE Ethiopia’s Senior Communications Advisor on all communication aspects of the project, to ensure communication materials are clarified, consistent, and alignment with project messaging and CARE and GAC branding guidelines.

Job Responsibility #2 Networking (20%)    

  • Collaborate with the project team,,  field team and others relevant stakeholders to strengthen networks and enhance collaborative communication. 

  • Collaborate and work with local communication offices and mainstream channels 

  • Participate in relevant meetings, workshops, and community events to document activities and identify communication opportunities. 

  • Collaborate and work closely with HER unit team (including local implementing partners – FSA and DKT) and communication team to ensure effective integration and alignment of communication efforts across all program components within the unit. 

  • Liaise with the broader CARE communications team to ensure alignment with organizational standards and branding.

  • Coordinate with operation team regarding the procurement of goods and services in relation to communication pieces

  • Establish and maintain platforms (e.g., mailing lists, chat groups, shared folders) to facilitate ongoing communication among project stakeholders and team.

  • Participate in virtual and in-person meetings initiated by the project, providing updates, capturing key insights, and supporting follow-up communication actions.

Job Responsibility #3: Learning, Documentation and Dissemination (30%)          

The intern will contribute to the learning and documentation efforts of the project by:

  • Collecting stories, quotes, and visuals from the field to support storytelling and evidence-based communication.

  • Assisting in the documentation of project milestones, lessons learned, and best practices.

  • Organizing and maintaining a repository of communication materials, photos, and videos.

  • Supporting the dissemination of materials through appropriate channels, including print, digital platforms, webinars, and stakeholder networks.

  • Reflecting on communication strategies and contributing ideas for improvement and innovation.

Job Responsibility #4 : Assess and support training needs on communication and advocacy (10%) ,

  • Assess training and support to staff, volunteers, and partners on advocacy techniques and strategies. Organize and facilitate training on communication and advocacy whenever necessary.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS ASSIGNED ___5_ % of time

A.Educational  qualification

Required 

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Graphic designing, or a related field. - Graphic Design: Basic skills in Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or similar tools. – Social media: Familiarity with platforms like Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and content scheduling tools. - Photography & Video: Basic photo/video editing (e.g., using CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush). - Digital Organization: Ability to manage shared folders (e.g., OneDrive, Google Drive) and file naming conventions.

Desired 

  • A Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Graphic designing, or a related field

B. Language skill :-

Required language/s: English and Amharic  -High Proficiency is required in Verbal, Writing, Reading and Listening Skills.

C. Computer skill:-

High Proficiency is required in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.

Relevant skill

V. Contractual Terms and Conditions
