Position Overview
JaRco Consulting is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Communications Intern to support our communications and outreach efforts. Working closely with the Communications & Outreach Specialist and the Program Team, the intern will assist in managing digital channels, drafting content, designing visual materials, and maintaining internal media archives. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or student passionate about research, media, and development communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Digital & Social Media Support: Assist in drafting, scheduling, and monitoring content across JaRco's social media channels (e.g., LinkedIn); help gather website updates and upload simple news posts or announcements.
- Content Creation & Drafting: Help draft short summaries, success stories, news updates, and newsletter snippets derived from JaRco's research reports and project milestones.
- Graphic & Document Design: Support the creation of simple graphics, slide decks, event flyers, and social media visuals using tools like Canva or PowerPoint.
- Research Translation: Work with team members to adapt technical research and evaluation findings into beginner-friendly infographics and brief summaries.
- Administrative & Event Support: Assist in organizing digital files, media libraries, photo databases, and contact lists; provide logistical support during workshops, conferences, or webinars.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background:
- BA degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Studies, Marketing, English, or a related field, with a strong academic track record (CGPA ≥ 3.5 and an Exit Exam score ≥75th percentile).
- An MA/MSc in a relevant discipline is preferred.
Language Proficiency:
- High professional proficiency in written and spoken English, paired with good written and verbal communication skills in Amharic.
Digital Literacy:
- Familiarity with social media platforms (especially LinkedIn); basic knowledge of website updating (WordPress) is a plus.
Design & Tools:
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Canva (experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a bonus).
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, effective time management, and a high degree of integrity and teamwork.
