Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted
Job Requirements
The Individual
Qualifications/ experience essential:
Education: A BA/Master’s degree in Political Science & International Relations, Law, Development Studies, Communications, Social science, Public Health or a related field. Advanced training in advocacy, public policy, or human rights is an asset.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience
Experience in humanitarian context and preferably working within an international NGO or multilateral organization.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful Communication strategies and campaigns at national or regional levels.
Proven ability to build relationships with media, write press releases, pitch stories, and manage media inquiries.
Experience in content development, Digital and social media management.
Qualification Desirable:
Excellent strategic thinking and leadership skills, with the ability to develop and implement complex communication strategies.
Experience with staff engagement, newsletters, and internal updates to ensure alignment and motivation across teams.
Proven ability to work with media, diverse networks, coalitions and partners to achieve common goals.
Strong writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality communication materials such as newsletters, reports, social media and campaign content in a clear and concise manner while meeting short deadlines.
Experience training and capacity building other staff in principles of communication and media.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues to diverse audiences and build consensus.
Fluency in English and Amharic is essential; additional languages relevant to the region are an advantage.
Proficiency in digital and social media platforms.
Skill
