Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) is a non-profit, indigenous civil society organization established in 1999 with the aim of improving the health, wellbeing, and socio-economic status of communities across Ethiopia. Since its inception, MSD has evolved into a leading development and humanitarian organization implementing evidence-based programs that address the diverse needs of vulnerable populations.
MSD's programmatic focus spans multiple sectors, including Health and Nutrition (TB, HIV/AIDS, SRH, MNCH), Education (access to quality education, TVET, and skills development), Social Mobilization and Livelihood (economic strengthening and prevention of HTPs, GBV, and FGM), Migration and Trafficking (safe migration and rehabilitation of returnees and victims), Child Care and Development (child protection, early childhood care, and infant feeding), and Human Rights and Good Governance (democratization, peace building, and dialogue).
In addition, MSD engages in Humanitarian and Emergency Response (supporting disaster-affected and displaced communities) and Environment and Climate Change (promoting environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation). Through these integrated interventions, MSD works closely with government institutions, community structures, and development partners to foster inclusive growth, equity, and resilience at all levels of society.
The overall responsibility of the Engage community members in planning, implementing and reviewing and identifying new HIV Cases and link to chronic care supports.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1.Targeted Community Based HIV Testing Service
Provision of community based HIV testing services through mobile, index and home based testing approaches
Education on risk avoidance and reduction
Condom promotion and distribution & Targeted demand creation
Risk assessment
Identify cases that are going to be referred to community from health facility together with the health facility provider or case manager
Facilitate/Provide community based care and support for non-stable patients to lesson burden to health facilities and clients
Mentoring and supervising CRPs to get them acquainted with task below for CRPs
Counsel high risk family members for testing and conduct testing in the community based on clients’ preference
Conduct assisted partner notification and do community based testing based on clients’ preference
2. Care and Support
Symptomatic screening for TB, STI and major depression
Nutritional assessment and counseling behavioral interventions to reduce stigma
Promotion of WASH and malaria prevention
Education on Family planning
3. Care and Treatment
Support HIV positive clients for disclosure and increase ART literacy
Home visit to build treatment adherence
Support tracking and reengagement of Lost to Follow up cases
Identification and referral for major drug side effects
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Diploma/ BSC in Nursing, Health Officer and related field of study
Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience to Diploma and 2 years to BSc holders.
Must have certificate and experience on HIV Counseling and Testing
