About the Job

SRVC II is an agriculture project aiming at developing the agricultural private sector based on a Value Chain approach in a strong collaborative cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant institutions.
The targeted sectors are horticulture, oilseeds, and coffee.

BRIEF PROFILE Example (5-8 main tasks based on formal job description or staff assessment and development talk – please update)

  • Responsible for the coordination of all the activities related to the Oilseed sector all along the value chain (production, processing, trading, mechanization, post harvest management, inputs, policies etc…)
  • Collaboration with the other technical component leaders (horticulture, services, coffee, dairy…)
  • Being the counterpart of the relevant directors in the MoA for the oilseed sector
  • Contribution to shaping the dialogue within your field of intervention with political partners and civil society partners in the national and international context
  • Cooperation with national and international organizations in the frame of the implementation of activities related to Oilseed sector
  • Reporting to the project leader and taking part of the management team
  • Managing your team according to PuR and KUF

About You

Formal Education and knowledge:

  • PhD in Agriculture, Crop Science
  • Knowledge and trainings in project management and result monitoring tools

Professional Experience:

  • 15 years of professional experience and out of it 7years in project management/coordination or similar experience;
  • basic understanding and work experience in GIZ management tool, Onsite operations, GIZ result based model and “Capacity Works” are additional assets.
  • good knowledge about Ethiopian agricultural sector and its institutional setup
  • experience in leading the conceptualization, operational planning and implementation of project activities as per the project objectives

  • ability to understand complex interactions between different stakeholders and sectors;
  • language skills: Fluent spoken and written skills in English and Amharic;

  • good communication and negotiation skills;
