The Opportunity

The position holder provides comprehensive technical support to implementation of the child protection policy and related programs within the Program Area (PA) and/or refugee camp. keep strong support and linkages with Harmful Traditional Practices (HTP) initiatives (who works on Early marriage) and other emergency response programs across the PA the role holder is accountable for delivering results aligned with agreed program plans and objectives, while overseeing the application of child protection policies at the PA level. by doing so, the position contributes to the broader goal of strengthening protection mechanisms and promoting positive community practices that prevent harmful traditional practices and violence against children. Plan International Ethiopia has established a child protection policy that all staff members are required to sign and uphold

Job Requirements

  • Education: BA degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Development studies and other related fields.

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of humanitarian aid experience applied in emergency/recovery response operations in focus on child protection and youth program

Job Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of Child Protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles; Good knowledge of GBV, Child Protection case management, CPIMS and MHPSS.

  • Excellent knowledge of basic child protection & youth principles, child & adult development & learning, and CFS.

  • Good knowledge of donor grants and contract regulations ECHO & UN agencies.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills in English and local language.

  • Proposal and report writing skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.

  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Program Participant and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.

  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
