About the ACRFSE Project
In Ethiopia, Agriterra has been active since 2015, providing support to cooperatives.
Agriterra currently runs four projects, one of which is the Accelerating Climate Resilient Food Systems in Ethiopia (ACRFSE) project.
The ACRFSE project is a multi-partner initiative designed to strengthen the climate
and financial resilience of 10,000 smallholder farmers and their cooperatives engaged in soybean, teff, and maize production.
The project tackles climate- related shocks and
post-harvest losses—particularly those linked to rising aflatoxin levels— by promoting climate-smart agricultural practices,
introducing improved ventilated storage systems, and reducing food waste.
These interventions enhance food quality, marketability, and farmers’ incomes while supporting nutrition and food security.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark under the Danida Green Business Partnerships (DGBP) programme, which promotes green transition, inclusive growth, job creation,
and improved livelihoods through collaboration between commercial and non-commercial actors.
The ACRFSE consortium comprises Agriterra, ETG, the University of Copenhagen, and Mary’s Meals.
The consortium works collaboratively to promote sustainable agriculture, improved nutrition, and inclusive market systems in Ethiopia.
Agriterra provides training and advisory support to cooperatives and unions in areas such as regenerative agriculture, governance, finance, business development,
and post-harvest solutions, while facilitating sustainable market linkages and delivering nutrition education to 10,000 households.
