Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to assist the General Manager in providing effective leadership and management of the SACCO, ensuring efficient operations, sustainable financial performance, quality member service, effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and achievement of the SACCO’s strategic objectives.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Cooperative Management, or with related field of study
Master’s Degree in a relevant field is highly advantageous
Professional certification in finance, accounting, cooperative management, or a related discipline is an advantage.
Experience
At least 10 years of relevant professional experience out of which 6 years of experience in a managerial position.
Experience in SACCOs, cooperatives, microfinance institutions, banks, or other financial institutions is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in financial, credit, operational, and people management.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the General Manager in the overall management and day-to-day operations of the SACCO.
Support the development and implementation of the SACCO’s strategic plan, annual business plan, and operational plans.
Coordinate, supervise, and monitor the performance of departments and branches under the assigned area of responsibility.
Monitor savings mobilization, loan disbursement, loan portfolio quality, collections, and recovery performance.
Ensure effective implementation of credit policies, procedures, internal controls, and delegated authorities.
Monitor financial and operational performance against approved plans, budgets, and targets and recommend corrective action.
Support preparation and review of budgets, management reports, performance reports, and other reports required by management and the Board.
Ensure compliance with applicable SACCO/cooperative laws, regulations, directives, policies, and internal procedures.
Support risk management, internal control, audit, and compliance activities and follow up on corrective actions.
Promote high-quality member service and ensure member complaints and service issues are addressed promptly.
Support human-resource activities including staff deployment, performance management, coaching, training, and discipline in accordance with policy.
Promote teamwork, accountability, ethical conduct, and a performance-oriented organizational culture.
Identify operational, financial, credit, and service-delivery risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Represent the SACCO in meetings with members, partners, regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders when delegated.
Act on behalf of the General Manager during absence or when formally delegated.
Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the General Manager and/or Board in line with the position.
Authority and Accountability
Accountable for the effective execution of responsibilities delegated by the General Manager.
May make operational decisions within approved policies, procedures, budgets, and delegated authority.
Responsible for safeguarding SACCO resources, confidential information, and member information.
Responsible for timely escalation of significant financial, operational, credit, compliance, and personnel issues to the General Manager.
