Job Description

Plan and execute precision hole drilling. Manage the angle, depth, and stemming of holes. Responsible for reducing drilling deviation to less than 2% in hard rock formations typical of the Shakiso region.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Drilling Engineering, Geology or with related field of study

Experience:

• Specifically experienced with Atlas Copco / Sandvik/ZEGA hydraulic drill rigs.

• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in hard rock (granite/basalt) drilling.

• Experience drilling under wet hole conditions (dewatering techniques).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drilling Engineering Planning and Technology Optimization: • Drilling Scheme Design: Determine the borehole diameter, depth, and angle (vertical or inclined) based on geological reports, rock hardness, and blasting requirements.

• Equipment Management and Lifecycle Maintenance:

• Selection and Matching

• Spare Parts Supply Chain Management: Predict the consumption patterns of vulnerable parts (such as down-the-hole hammers and rotary drill bits), establish reasonable spare parts inventory, and ensure production continuity.

• On-site Operation Supervision and Safety

• Safety Standards Development: Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for drilling rig movement, setup, and operation, especially anti- tipping measures when working on slope edges

Skills & Competencies

• Basic English communication skill & Mandarin proficiency is an advantage

• Proven ability to read and interpret pattern CAD designs.

• Maintenance of drill bits and rigs in remote areas.

• Fluent in reading topographical maps.

• Basic mechanical repair.
