Job Summary

Under the close supervision of the General Service Officer, drives vehicles, light trucks and medium sized buses; transports authorized personnel, materials, goods, etc. from place to place as instructed; and checks the proper functioning of vehicles; ascertains availability of oil, water, fuel etc. prior to use.

Job Requirements

•  Education: Grade 10 + Grade III Driving License 

• Experience: 3 years of driving experience 

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of traffic regulations and safety rules

• Knowledge of basic auto mechanics

• Ability to drive vehicles safely and reliably

• Skill in performing simple mechanical repairs

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drives small vehicles, light trucks and medium sized buses not exceeding 30 passengers.

• Transports authorized personnel, materials, goods, etc. from place to place as instructed.

• Checks the proper functioning of vehicles; ascertains availability of oil, water, fuel etc. prior to use.

• Logs time of departure, return, kilometers covered, fuel and oil consumed, and other required data on the appropriate cards or log books.

• Reports to supervisor accidents, malfunctioning, breakdown, etc. as soon as possible.

• Makes minor maintenance such as changing flat tires, broken fan belts, filters, etc.

• Signs, receives and keeps tools assigned to the vehicle.

• Dusts, washes and cleans assigned vehicle regularly and as necessary.

• Ascertains that safety standards and traffic regulations are observed at all times.

• Runs errands and provides expediting services;

• Performs other related duties as required.
