The Opportunity 

This position holder shall ensure that activities are implemented duly as planned, compile detail performance reports and best practices regularly as required and put in place strategies for effective and smooth operation of the project. The coordinator may be also expected to take active role in technical co-ordination, support and advocacy with the country specific Education Clusters, other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector.

Key responsibilities ensure the sustainability of the project interventions, handing over project documents, data and structures to government partners, close the project effectively and efficiently, include ensuring donor compliance, taking timely actions, Facilitate Final evaluation and final Audit, complete the remaining activities of the project, budget management and expenditure posting, and managing project closure. The role requires proactive problem-solving, delivering contextualized solutions, and mitigating risks identified through spot checks to maintain project closure.

Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  1. Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.

  2. Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;

  3. Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.

  4. Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

Job Requirements

  • B.E./BA /MA degree in Education, Community Development, Psychology, Social Sciences, rural development and related fields

  • 5+ years of relevant experience out of which 3 years successful project coordination skills

  • Sound analytical and problem-solving capability; ability to influence others' behaviour through effective relationship building; thorough relevant policies, frameworks, etc.

  • Mobilizing as well as facilitating training

  • Budget planning and management

  • Partnership and networking

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

  • Experience in project coordination

Languages required:

  • Fluency in English & Amharic language is essential
