The Education Officer will be responsible for assisting the education sector in Amhara Reginal State, North Wollo Zone, Habru and Guba Lafto Woredas by meeting the emergency basic needs of conflict-affected populations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Identify the educational needs of students in collaboration with the school community, Woreda Education Experts, and other relevant stakeholders.
Assess age, gender, and disability disaggregated data in alignment with the project outcome.
Organize and facilitate various capacity-building training programmes for teachers; Parent, Teachers, and Student Associations (PTSA); school feeding programme committees; and etc.
Mapping the number and ages of children and forming appropriate playgroups.
Manage play material distribution based on age, disability, and gender sensitivity.
Provide students with assistance and direction regarding response services within the school.
Actively support the distribution of learning materials, equipment, dignity kits, and other items to students and teachers at the community/school level.
Conduct learning baseline and end-line assessments in the targeted schools.
Create community awareness in collaboration with stakeholders to support the implementation of project activities within the agreed-upon budget and timeline.
Identify critical program gaps and vulnerabilities, and clarify roles, responsibilities, and accountability to address those gaps effectively.
Ensure the project's quality by increasing the capacity of students, parents, and teachers through training in mental health and psychosocial support, life skills, and so on.
Work with school communities to refer students to other support services and mental health professionals as needed.
Assist the MEAL team in ensuring that data is captured correctly and accurately.
Provide technical assistance, train, follow up, and collaborate with community facilitators
Collect best practices, organize data and information, and prepare and maintain records, documents, and control plans for project implementation monitoring.
Work closely with the consortium partners as well as Woreda and Zonal Education Offices of North Wollo, Amhara.
Prepare weekly and monthly implementation work plans.
Implement activities in accordance with the agreed project document, budget, and work plan.
Prepare and submit an implementation report, as well as weekly, monthly, and other periodic reports, to the appropriate body.
Provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
Take on any additional responsibilities assigned by his/her supervisor or ZOA.

Transportation allowance: ETB 1,500 for our programme field office staff, & ETB 2,000 for our country office staff per month.

Food Allowance: we provide lunch daily at our offices, ZOA pays 600 ETB per month and staff contribute 400 ETB per month.
Severance payment: one month’s salary for an extra service year.
Hardship Allowance: If you are working in identified places as a remote and hazardous by the government, you will be entitled 20-40% additional allowances of their basic salary. Therefore, we provide 40% hardship allowance to ZOA employees working in Gambella, Dollo Ado and Shire field offices.
Transfer Allowance: We provide transfer allowance of 10,000 ETB If, in case of you permanently shift or transfer to a new programme area.

Therefore, ZOA provides R&R leave for its employees who work in the program offices in Somali, Gambela, and Tigray regions.

Educational Qualification and Experience
BA/BSC or MA/MSC degree in Education (Educational Planning and Management, Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, Early Childhood Care and Education, Curriculum Instruction and Pedagogy, and so on).
At least 5 years for BA/BSC or 3 years for MA/MSC of related work experience in education
Practical experience in child protection in an emergency context
Language Required: Amharic and English
Ensure effective planning and implementation of educational activities.
Contribute to and ensure the effective management and monitoring of LEGO foundation supported education project
Establish and maintain strategic partnerships and support resource mobilization in cooperation with the management support
Ensure provision of top-quality technical and advisory services, and facilitation of knowledge management and knowledge dissemination
Skills:
Good computer skills in programs including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to work under pressure in challenging working and living conditions.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Excellent spoken and technical writing ability in English, including report writing.
