Job Summary :-The Electronic Colour Sortex & Coffee Machinery Electrician is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic systems used in coffee processing plants, including electronic colour sorters (Sortex), coffee processing machinery, control panels, motors, sensors, drives, and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic colour sorter machines (SORTEX or equivalent).

  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults in coffee processing machinery.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all electrical systems.

  • Calibrate sensors, cameras, ejectors, and optical components.

  • Install and align electrical components, PLCs, VFDs, and control panels.

  • Monitor machine performance and optimize settings.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report breakdowns.

  • Ensure compliance with factory safety standards.

  • Train operators on safe machine handling.

  • Diagnose electrical faults in motors, control panels, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, and circuit breakers.

  • Troubleshoot PLC, VFD/inverter, sensors, actuators, and industrial control systems.

  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of coffee processing equipment.

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.

  • Inspect electrical components and identify potential failures before breakdown occurs.

  • Support machine installation, commissioning, testing, and modification activities.

  • Maintain electrical panels and ensure proper wiring, connections, grounding, and protection systems.

  • Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

  • Maintain maintenance records, fault reports, and spare-parts requirements.

  • Work closely with mechanical and production teams to resolve equipment-related problems.

  • Ensure all electrical maintenance activities comply with workplace safety procedures.

  • Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma or BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years factory electrical maintenance experience.

  • Mandatory experience with SORTEX or similar colour sorting machines.

  • Experience in industrial automation, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and control systems.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of electronic colour sorter machines.

  • Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and PLC logic.

  • Hands-on experience with industrial cameras, sensors, ejectors, VFDs, and control circuits.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.

  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to breakdowns.

Work Location: Based in Addis Ababa, with regular travel to coffee processing units and other company sites for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and machinery-related support.
