Organization: Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC
Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM), a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp., a publicly listed company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), is engaged in gold mining operations across multiple countries, including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM operates with a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and holds three contiguous Exploration Licenses for its project in Ethiopia.
The project is strategically located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, within the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently actively involved in both mine development and exploration activities at the site.
JOB TITLE: ENGINEERING MANAGER
Purpose of the job
The Management of KGM is seeking to employ a dedicated, experienced and self motivated individual to fill the position of a Engineering Manager to oversee all engineering activities, lead teams, ensure safety compliance, and optimize operations to ensure efficient and safe engineering and overall mining operations.
Without being exhaustive, the responsibilities include:
Oversee Engineering Activities:
Responsible for all engineering-related tasks, including planning, execution, and delivery of projects.
Lead Engineering Teams:
Lead and mentor a team of subordinates, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure efficient and effective performance.
Develop and Implement Engineering Strategies:
Develop and implement strategies to optimize production, minimize operational costs, and improve overall efficiency. Comply with the maintenance strategy and legal compliance.
Ensure Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to relevant safety regulations and company policies.
Collaborate with Other Departments:
Work closely with other departments and contractors to ensure seamless operation of the general mine operations, including maintenance, and other engineering related activities.
Monitor Equipment Performance:
Monitor the performance of engineering systems and equipment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
Conduct Site Visits:
Conduct regular work-site visits to assess engineering needs, address any issues, and ensure that engineering solutions are effectively implemented.
Develop and Maintain Stakeholder Relationships:
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, contractors, and other internal and external parties.
Project Management:
Responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution.
A minimum of 8 – 10 Years’ operational experience within engineering of which 3 years should be at management level in surface mining operations is highly desirable.
Proven leadership and project management skills are essential.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of mining operations, equipment, and engineering systems is required.
Compliance Knowledge:
Familiarity with relevant mining and/or engineering regulations.
Possession of a General Certificate of Competency (GCC Certificate) for underground or opencast mines will be an advantage.
