Job Purpose
To support the Onchocerciasis elimination program of Ethiopia, field surveys on pre-stop MDA and stop-MDA surveys using entomological (river prospection) and serological sample collection will be carried out in Oromia, Benishangul Gumuz, and Tigray regions. Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) surveys will also be carried out through Epidemiological Monitoring Surveys (EMS) and Transmission Assessment Surveys (TAS) in targeted districts.
The Entomology and Laboratory Coordinator will be hired by Light for the World under the Reaching the Last Mile Fund (RLMF) and will report to the Program Manager. He/she will support preparation and survey data collection activities for these surveys. These activities require detailed and careful survey planning, logistic management, coordination and strong team spirit. He/she will support procurement team on identification, quantification and purchase of necessary supplies. He/she will support survey activities on protocol development, training, supervision and reporting.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Entomology, Biomedical Sciences and Laboratory Technology related fields.
Experience: Minimum 5 years relevant experience on NTDs surveys program in INGO-Settings particularly experience working on Onchocerciasis and/or LF elimination program surveys is required for the position.

Duration: Contract up to 31 December 2026, with the possibility of extension

Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the identification and quantification of supplies required for Onchocerciasis entomological and epidemiological surveys as per project plan.
Lead the identification and quantification of supplies required for LF EMS and TAS survey as per project plan.
Innovate the process of timely procurement and delivery of supplies procured from in-country to ensure the supplies availability ahead of survey.
Spearhead the importation processes of laboratory reagents and supplies procured from abroad to maximize procurement lead-time.
Lead the initiation of laboratory quality assurance at Adama Onchocerciasis laboratory and foster a quality assured laboratory system.
Lead capacity building activities to survey data collectors and ensure proper functioning of ODK tools at field level.
Systematically ensure the deployment and guidance provision to data collection teams.
Support data quality assurance during data collection and data analysis.
Keep and comply with organization data protection and confidentiality.
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
Perform other duties as recommended by the immediate supervisor.
Skills & Competencies
Relevant training in Onchocerciasis entomology and pre stop MDA survey, Stop MDA survey.
Experience in survey planning and report writing on LF/Oncho surveys.
Skills and ability to demonstrate extensive experience on conducting entomological river prospection.
Skills on survey planning, survey team organization, mentoring and supervision of data collectors.
Skills on providing technical support to national/subnational NTDs programs planning and implementation.
Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Ability to communicate respectfully in a multi-cultural environment.
Proficiency in computer applications skills.
Strong communication and report-writing skills.
Proven ability to work in a team and/or independently in challenging field conditions.
