Job Summary
The Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating field data collection activities to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely data. The supervisor will guide and monitor Data Collectors, ensure adherence to study protocols, support troubleshooting in the field, and maintain data quality standards throughout the data collection process.
Supervisors will oversee enumerator teams and ensure adherence to the study protocols. Supervisors may also support the implementation of qualitative interviews where required.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating enumerator fieldwork activities.
Monitoring interview quality and ensuring adherence to data collection protocols.
Conducting spot checks, back-checks, and reviewing submitted survey data for completeness, consistency, and quality.
Providing troubleshooting support to enumerators /resolving field challenges& respondent related issues during fieldwork.
Supporting the research team in implementing field logistics.
Ensuring that safeguarding and ethical guidelines are followed.
Ensure timely data synchronization and submission using digital platforms.
Provide daily and weekly field progress reports to the Project Manager or Research Coordinator.
Facilitate training, field testing, and refresher sessions for Data Collectors.
Ensure proper use and management of digital data collection tools (CommCare, KoBoToolbox, or similar platforms).
Maintain effective communication with project management and field teams.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
A minimum of BA/BSc Degree in Public Health, Economics, Social Sciences, Education, Development Studies, Rural development, Business Administration or related disciplines.
Work Experience
Extensive experience in field research and team coordination, ideally more than six years of experience in data collection and supervision of survey teams.
Proven experience in household survey supervision and field coordination.
Experience using digital data collection systems such as CommCare, KoBoToolbox, or similar platforms.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong data quality assurance and monitoring skills.
Good understanding of local culture, norms, and community engagement practices.
Ability to work under pressure and manage field teams effectively.
Proficiency in digital data collection tools and mobile-based survey systems.
Ability to work in remote and rural areas when necessary.
Strong organizational and reporting skills.
Commitment to collecting quality data in difficult situations
Ability to adhere to study protocols, supporting enumerators during fieldwork, and maintaining data quality standards.
Local language skill is required
