Job Requirements

We are currently seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the following positions. Ideal candidates will be competent, motivated, and passionate about international development. These roles are an excellent opportunity for professionals with 7 to 10 years of experience who are eager to engage in financial management, preferably within the international development sector. The successful candidates will thrive in a collaborative environment in Ethiopia, possess the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and demonstrate the capacity to work both independently and as part of a dynamic, fast-paced team.

  • Qualification: MSc in Accounting

Experience

  • Experience in Financial Management:

  • The candidate should offer 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, ideally gained within complex, mission-driven organizations operating in the international development or humanitarian sectors. This experience should reflect a clear trajectory of leadership, with increasing accountability over time, and a demonstrated ability to manage financial operations across multiple geographic regions and funding streams.

  • Budgeting, Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • A strong command of budgeting processes is essential, including the development of multi-million-dollar annual and multi-year budgets aligned with organizational strategy and donor requirements. The candidate should have significant experience in financial planning and forecasting, scenario modeling, and variance analysis to support evidence-based decision-making at both programmatic and organizational levels.

  • Financial Reporting:

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery in preparing, consolidating, and presenting financial reports for both internal leadership and external stakeholders, including institutional donors and boards of directors. This includes ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP), as well as donor-specific financial reporting formats and schedules.

  • Grant Management:

  • Extensive experience managing large-scale, donor-funded grant portfolios is required. This includes end-to-end grant lifecycle management—from proposal budgeting and donor negotiations, to financial monitoring, reporting, and closeout. The candidate should be adept at ensuring financial compliance with donor terms and conditions, managing cost recovery, and maintaining audit-ready documentation for both prime and sub-grants.

  • Donor Compliance Expertise:

  • A deep, working knowledge of the financial compliance frameworks of major bilateral and multilateral donors (e.g., Master Card foundation, USAID, FCDO, EU, World Bank, UN agencies) is critical. The candidate should be able to interpret and apply donor regulations with precision, provide guidance to program teams on allowable costs and procurement rules, and lead the development of internal controls and systems to ensure financial integrity and accountability.

  • Management of Complex Financial Transactions in Consortium-Based Programs:

  • Proven experience managing the financial components of large, multi-partner, and consortium-led programs is essential. This includes establishing financial coordination mechanisms, harmonizing financial procedures among consortium members, overseeing the disbursement and reporting of funds to sub-partners, and ensuring adherence to shared accountability standards. The candidate must be skilled in mitigating financial risk while promoting collaboration and transparency across diverse stakeholder groups.
