Job Summary
Roen Manufacturing One Member Plc is looking for an experienced and qualified Finance Manager to oversee the company’s financial operations and provide effective financial management in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate must have strong finance and accounting knowledge and proven practical experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in production costing, inventory control, budgeting, cash-flow management, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
Prepare and review financial statements, including the Income Statement (Profit & Loss), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement.
Manage the General Ledger, journal entries, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
Maintain proper accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
Manufacturing Cost Accounting
Calculate and monitor the total cost of production.
Analyze raw material, direct labor, and factory overhead costs.
Calculate production cost per unit and monitor production cost efficiency.
Prepare and analyze Cost of Goods Manufactured and Cost of Goods Sold.
Work closely with the production team to control manufacturing costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Inventory and Production Finance
Monitor raw materials, Work in Progress (WIP), and finished goods.
Ensure proper inventory valuation and stock reconciliation.
Monitor inventory losses, variances, wastage, and production-related financial discrepancies.
Coordinate with warehouse and production departments to maintain accurate inventory records.
Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Planning
Prepare annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against approved budgets.
Prepare cash-flow forecasts and financial projections.
Identify budget variances and provide clear explanations and corrective recommendations.
Cash and Bank Management
Monitor cash balances and daily cash-flow requirements.
Perform and review bank reconciliations.
Manage payments, receipts, and banking transactions.
Ensure sufficient funds are available for salaries, suppliers, taxes, and other operating expenses.
Taxation and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable Ethiopian tax laws and regulations.
Manage VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax, and Payroll Tax requirements.
Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax declarations and payments.
Maintain complete and accurate tax documentation and records.
Fixed Asset Management
Maintain records of machinery, buildings, vehicles, equipment, and other fixed assets.
Calculate and review depreciation.
Monitor asset additions, transfers, and disposals.
Maintain an accurate fixed asset register.
Internal Control and Risk Management
Establish and maintain effective internal financial controls.
Prevent and identify fraud, financial errors, and irregular transactions.
Ensure proper authorization and approval of payments.
Maintain segregation of duties and proper documentation.
Conduct regular reconciliations and financial reviews.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Analyze revenue, gross profit, net profit, production costs, operating expenses, and cash flow.
Monitor inventory turnover, profit margins, and other key financial indicators.
Provide management with financial analysis and recommendations for decision-making.
10. Manufacturing Industry Knowledge
The Finance Manager must have practical experience in a manufacturing environment and understand how financial activities are connected to the production process:
Raw Materials → Production / WIP → Finished Goods → Sales → Revenue
The candidate should understand manufacturing accounting, production costing, inventory control, factory overhead allocation, production variances, and the financial impact of production efficiency.
Job Requirements
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, and cost-control skills.
Strong understanding of manufacturing finance and production costing.
Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills; experience with accounting or ERP systems is an advantage.
Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively with production, procurement, warehouse, sales, and management teams.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, confidentiality, and accountability.
Good command of both English and Amharic.
Experience Requirement
Candidates with strong and relevant Finance Manager experience in the manufacturing industry will be given priority. Applicants without practical manufacturing-industry finance experience may not be considered.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Professional accounting or finance certification (such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in finance and accounting.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Finance Manager or equivalent senior finance management position is mandatory.
Proven practical experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in a factory or production company, is mandatory.
Strong practical knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and cash-flow management.
Good knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, financial regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
