Background

AQ Roses plc is a company that produces different kinds of flowers starting from 2006 based in Ziway, Oromia. The company had started its farming on 18 hectares based in the shores of Lake Denbel. Having maintained its qualities and quantities, currently AQ Roses flower farm has expanded its farming to 38 hectares instead of 18 hectares. The company sells its product under the brand name called Rosa Plaza. AQ Roses flower farm is unique in terms of product quality, service and reliability. Furthermore AQ Roses gives great emphasis on environment and social aspects of the surrounding.

Scope of the position

Under the direct supervision of Backhouse Manager; the Backhouse Assistant Manager manages all post-harvest operations from intake to dispatch, ensuring all process management, quality and cold chain integrity.

 Management Responsibilities: 

• Supervise grading, bunching, and packing processes.

• Report daily, weekly, and monthly production data.

• Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Coordinate her own team and collaborate with the production team regards to quality

• Manage staff training, including health, safety, and hygiene.

• Ensure compliance with export requirements and quality standards.

• Monitor post-harvest losses and implement corrective actions. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

• A diploma or BSc in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field is typically required for management positions.

• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in rose post-harvest operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of cool chain management of flowers and post-harvest treatments.

• Ability to operate and maintain, or supervise the process and quality.

• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure.

• Strong team management abilities, able to motivate staff and handle conflict.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
