Job Summary
The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the financial operations of our Shashemene Regional Office. The role ensures accurate financial record-keeping, budget management, and strict compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations. This position provides critical support to both the finance and program teams to ensure effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Transactions: Process and record payments, receipts, and journal entries with high accuracy.
Reconciliations: Perform regular bank and petty cash reconciliations and manage disbursements and replenishments.
Budgeting: Assist in monitoring project budgets, ensuring expenditures remain within approved limits, and conducting variance analysis.
Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements (Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow) and donor-specific reports.
Audit & Compliance: Assist in internal/external audit preparations and ensure all operations adhere to Ethiopian labor/tax laws and donor requirements.
Internal Controls: Implement safeguards for organizational assets and maintain the integrity of the financial system.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in an NGO environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (ERP experience is a plus) and advanced Excel skills.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with program teams.
Languages: Fluency in English and Amharic is required. (Knowledge of local languages in the Shashemene area is an advantage).
