Consortium of Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations (CEHRO) is a local Consortium of CSOs licensed on March 16th, 2018 by the Federal democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Societies Organizations in accordance with the Civil Societies Proclamation No. 1113/2019 with registration number 3932. The objectives of the CEHRO is to ensure the existence of an enabling environment for human rights and democratic governance and to creating a platform for strong and vibrant human rights CSOs for the realization of human rights and democratic values in Ethiopia. Currently CEHRO has 32 active member CSOs from different regions.

Job brief

We are on the hunt for a highly-analytical and qualified financial officer to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for the financial health of our consortium/organization by managing our financial procedures.

You should be familiar with audits, invoices and project budget preparations. Our ideal candidate demonstrates interest in managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of financial policies, procedures, and systems. In addition to being an excellent communicator, our ideal candidate will also have outstanding analytical, excellent organizational skills and time management abilities.

Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of our financial transactions and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records and receipts for all daily transactions for all projects.

  • Ensure financial records are kept up-to-date with the latest transactions and changes.

  • Monitor all bank deposits and payments

  • Reconcile bank statements

  • Perform periodic financial analysis to detect and resolve problems.

  • Prepare balance sheets for each donor funds

  • Process invoices

  • Record accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Update internal systems with financial data

  • Prepare interim (monthly, quarterly and annual) financial reports

  • Prepare scanned financial document for report as needed

  • Participate in financial audits

  • Track bank deposits and payments

  • Assist with budget preparation

  • Review and implement financial policies

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics

  • Professional certification of IPSAS/IFRS is considered as a plus

  • Training in accounting and donor policies and procedures (formal certification) also a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum five years of financial management, finance, accounting, or related experience;

  • Knowledge of grants administration, and ability to interpret grants-related governmental documents and accurately respond to them;

  • Prior experience working on program support for civil society organizations is desirable.

  • Proven work experience as a Finance Officer or similar role

  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures

  • Experience using financial software

  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • Knowledge of financial regulations

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills

  • Sharp time management skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data

Other Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work outputs, including written communication;

  • Advanced Excel skills and different accounting software, especially QuickBooks;

  • Have good in writing and speaking English language;

  • Ability to independently track and manage multiple tasks and complete them quickly.

  • Have good experienced how to prepare report for different donor’s financial grant compliances.

Duration: Contract will be last for three (3) months
