Job Description

The Financial Planning and Investor Relations Manager will lead financial planning, balance sheet management, cash flow forecasting, and investor relations for Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC, ensuring the company’s financial health and providing key insights to senior management and investors.

Responsibilities

Role purpose: 

Reporting to the EHOD – Finance Planning and Analysis, the position holder will be responsible for Financial Planning with focus on Balance sheet Management, Cash flow Forecasting, funding planning, financial analysis and Investor Relations to ensure the company meets its operational and capital requirements and providing key management information to senior management and investors(shareholders) on a regular basis to very tight timelines. The information produced is critical in enhancing and improving decision-making processes

 Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Cashflow Forecasting: –

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive cash flow planning models, providing regular forecasts that help the business manage liquidity effectively.

  • Support the Treasury team in identifying trends and patterns in cash inflows and outflows to ensure optimal cash reserves and working capital management.

  • Analyze the impact of operational changes, capital expenditure, and financing activities on cash flow.

  • Collaborate with other finance teams to manage short-term and long-term cash flow strategies

Balance Sheet Management and Reporting: –

  •  Monitor key balance sheet metrics, including assets, liabilities, equity, and working capital

  • Perform Balance Sheet review variance analysis and provide insights on major variance to Budget, Forecasts and MoM movement including providing recommendations to executive management of any risks identified and corrective actions on any major gaps.

  • Assess and monitor the company’s capital structure, including debt/equity ratios, and provide insights for optimizing financing arrangements and ensuring compliance to any debt/equity covenants. i.e. IFC debt

  • Analyze the impact of CAPEX investments and acquisitions on the balance sheet and overall financial position.

Strategic Financial Analysis and Decision Support:

  • Provide analysis on different financial scenarios and their potential impact on cash flow and balance sheet management, advising senior leadership on key risks and opportunities.

  •  Conduct sensitivity analysis on critical assumptions, such as price increase, CAPEX Spend, and regulatory changes.

  • Contribute to the development of the company’s long-term financial strategy, focusing on maintaining healthy cash flows and a solid balance sheet position.

  • Work closely with senior management to support financial decision-making, ensuring that financial strategies are aligned with corporate goals.

  • Support and prepare consolidation of monthly performance Review Pack, quarterly Board Pack and Other shareholder reports

Investor Relations: –

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shareholders ensuring that the company’s financial performance is understood accurately.

  • Support the preparation of internal and external communications for investors; results presentations, press releases, press commentaries, and consensus estimates along with Safaricom PLC

  • Facilitating preparation and development production of the Annual Report

  • Ensure all investor (Shareholders) communications are consistent with the company’s overall strategy, and long-term goals.

            Must have technical / professional qualifications: 

  •  Degree in Accounting, economics, finance

  • 8 years and above broad experience in all facets of Finance i.e. Management Accounting, Forecasting and Planning, Financial Accounting, and Reporting.
