Kefeta envisions Ethiopian youths who are game changers: empowered to advance their own economic, civic, and social development; resilient in the face of shocks; actively promoting development within their communities and contributing to the country’s peace and prosperity. Kefeta will strengthen the youth ecosystem in Ethiopia with integrated, multi-sectoral, youth-centered programming aligned with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach.
Job Summary
Under the overall administrative and professional direction and supervision of the Employability, Skills and Training Officer the Functional and Adult Training Facilitator [FAL Facilitator] is responsible in preparing, maintaining, and presenting specialized educational materials and in conducting instructional activities in the field of early literacy development for the USAID Integrated Youth Activity (IYA) in targeted city. The ideal candidate would possess an extensive understanding of instructional practices in teaching reading and educational language development. The ideal candidate would also possess strong youth service skills, the ability to work effectively with students from various age groups, backgrounds, and personalities, as wells as within a team of colleagues.
This position works closely for practical FAL section with young adults followed by per learning and discussion with FAL facilitators and youth coalition leaders. They also work within all program staff to successfully implement the organization and KEFETA project leaders at ground level.
Presenting educational information to students in reading literacy and numeracy.
Demonstrating methods, procedures, techniques, and uses of materials, tools, and equipment to students for the foundation of literacy skills and reading fluency.
Providing explanation and feedback to students regarding assigned learning tools that address standardizing accelerated learning program and FAL through guideline, practices.
Providing tutoring for individual students or groups in reading and literacy.
Providing action feedback to students through conferring with students during small group and guided reading.
Supporting the project team in administering foundational literacy skill assessments.
In consultation with the employability skills development and training officer, reviewing literacy assessment data, and recommending practice activities.
Capacity building of Accelerated learning and FAL for youth (facilitators, supervisors, mangers, and leaders).
Joint monitoring, learning evaluation and appraisal of FAL IYA project.
Evidence based advocacy and lobby for FAL and inclusive development including peace building, social cohesion, and others.
Organizing thematic forums, platforms etc. on FAL for nation building.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager and coordinator and or provides other support to the work of YNSD-IYA Kefeta as may be required.

Duty Station: The positions are based in Addis Ababa, Adama, and Bishoftu, with one facilitator required for each city.
Qualification and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, Social Sciences, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in literacy instruction, adult education, or community development.

Strong commitment to working with youth peer mentors.
Experience working on youth projects.
Experience in youth workshop/ trainings, campaign/events organizing
Strong oral and written communication skills in Amharic, English, and other local languages.
Demonstrated skills and significant experience in youth advocacy projects.
Strong personal skills, organization and communication skills.
Self-motivated and well organized
Proficiency in the use of computerized/smart phone program.
Ability to work independently and under tight activity/deadlines.
