Who we are...

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs  to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant  actors to bring  sustainable  positive outcomes for children’s and young people.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

Why we need you?

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our sponsorship team and contribute to our aim of reaching many more children by raising funds locally. We are looking for a collaborative and energetic individual who will be responsible for disseminating first-hand information about SOS Children’s Village to the public during selected dates and at public locations such as shopping malls and events to recruit and secure long-term donors for the organization.

Priority Task and Responsibility

  • Communicate directly with private citizens and organizations to sign them up with an emphasis on recruiting them as long-term donors

  • Cooperate with team members to set up fundraising tables and marketing materials at canvassing locations.

  • Participate in relevant monthly/weekly training and meetings at the office

  • Approach as many members of the public as possible and actively engage with potential donors.

  • Devise various strategies to actively engage and enroll donors for a regular monthly donation

  • Approach potential donors with good customer service to ensure effective and accurate administration and processing of personal sign-ups.

  • Present information about SOS Children’s Villages to the public and raise awareness in accordance with the mission, vision, and values to promote a good image and the organization’s fundraising program and goals.

  • Daily submission of signed sponsorship agreements to the National Office.

  • Perform job tasks in accordance with the manuals and planning guidelines currently in effect, carrying out the reporting procedure in cooperation with the Local Sponsorship Coordinator and other colleagues. 

Other Responsibilities

  • Support logistical tasks in terms of preparing the location for work

  • Keep up to date with the information about SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia and its activities and projects, to facilitate the successful raising of funds 

  • Regular attendance and active participation in group and individual workshops, training sessions, courses and evaluations

  • Daily and monthly reporting in accordance with the instructions received by the SOS in-house team coordinator

  • Openly communicate , timely conveyance and exchange information with supervisor

Child safeguarding

  • Responsible to take part in  awareness raising sessions and capacity building trainings in relation to Child Safeguarding to prevent and protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination

  • Support children and young people to make them understand the CS risks and protection mechanisms

  • Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager  

Job Requirements

Must have:

  • Education: Level VI certificate or above in Marketing Management, Management, and another related field of study.

  • Experience: Previous fundraising, marketing (telemarketing) or sales experience (preferred)
