Job Purpose

To ensure optimal line performance, precise coating quality, and minimal downtime by operating and monitoring the central galvanizing control systems, supervising the line crew, and executing advanced troubleshooting on the galvanizing line.

Job Requirements

  • Education: 10th grade completion & above

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years experience in corrugated iron sheet factory.

Duties and Responsibilities

  Advanced Equipment Operation & Oversight

  • Operate and oversee central control systems for the galvanizing line (including furnace temperature, line speed, zinc pot chemistry, and air knives) according to SOPs.

  • Monitor strip tracking, tension, and surface quality continuously to intervene proactively and prevent line breaks or coating defects.

  • Optimize machine settings and chemical parameters for specific product specifications, steel grades, and shift coating targets.

  Mechanical Maintenance & Fault Resolution

  • Lead execution of preventive maintenance routines on critical central equipment, including sink rolls, stabilizing rolls, and wiping systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical or process faults in the central pot area independently or with the maintenance crew.

  • Support root-cause analysis for recurring coating defects (such as zinc sag, bare spots, or dross pimples) and implement long-term solutions.

  Safety Leadership & Compliance

  • Enforce strict safety protocols for handling molten metal, hazardous chemicals, and high-temperature furnace operations.

  • Ensure correct PPE usage (including heat-resistant suits and face shields) among the operator team in the central area.

  • Respond to emergency line stops, zinc pot freezes, or furnace issues, and escalate critical safety risks promptly.

 Quality Assurance & Production Support

  • Ensure product quality by inspecting coating thickness, adherence, surface finish, and mechanical tolerances.

  • Guide junior operator mechanics in identifying zinc defects and implementing immediate corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with quality control and metallurgy teams to meet production targets and reduce scrap rates.

  Team Supervision & Skill Development

  • Mentor and train junior operators on central console operations, zinc pot maintenance routines, and safety practices.

  •  Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback to improve central line crew efficiency.

  • Promote discipline, teamwork, and continuous process improvement on the galvanizing shop floor.

 Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed logs of furnace temperatures, zinc bath composition, downtime, and shift production output.

  • Report major mechanical faults, roll replacement needs, and process improvements to the Production Management team.

  • Support internal quality audits and safety inspections with accurate process documentation and technical input.
