Help Generation (HG) is a non-profit, women-led local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (Certificate No. 4459), HG maintains a strong regional presence across six regions of Ethiopia, namely Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Southern Ethiopia, Afar, and Addis Ababa. Our core mission focuses on Protection, Education, Livelihood Development, and Humanitarian Emergency Response. Currently, with funding from UNICEF, HG is implementing the GBV (Gender-Based Violence) and CP (Child Protection) Preparedness and Response Plan in the North Regions. This project addresses the conflict and drought crisis across five woredas in Afar Zone 2 and 4: Dalol, Koneba, Megale, Yallo, and Erebti. HG is now becoming fully operational in Yallo, Erebti, and Megalle Weredas, and we are seeking dedicated employees to join our mission in these locations.
The GBV Prevention Officer will be responsible for providing day-to-day case management and psychosocial support to vulnerable women, including survivors of GBV, and will also oversee Women's and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) activities, including psychosocial and recreational activities, information sessions, and skills-building activities. Additionally, the prevention officer will be responsible for overseeing prevention activities (community mobilization and awareness-raising interventions), information dissemination, conducting mass and mini campaigns, and implementation of the prevention strategy. The prevention officer will supervise the community outreach workers.

Primary Responsibilities.
Provide and oversee GBV case management services, psychosocial support (PSS), awareness-raising sessions, trainings, and all other GBV activities implemented at the field level.
Provide direct GBV case management and psychosocial support services to survivors, while offering technical guidance and support to other GBV case managers through close supervision and follow-up of the case management process.
Regularly conduct case file audits to ensure that all required GBV case management forms and reports are accurately completed, properly filed, and regularly updated.
Provide direct technical supervision to social workers and ensure the timely and quality delivery of case management service, awareness-raising, and other GBV activities implemented by the team.
Coordinate and monitor the implementation of GBV response activities in target wereda based on established indicators, including direct involvement in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Directly implement and support day-to-day GBV case management, psychosocial support, survivor follow-up, and advocacy services to meet beneficiaries’ needs, while engaging in community mobilization to reduce GBV risks and strengthen community prevention and response capacities.
Develop and monitor GBV program plans, including activity planning, procurement, and expenditure related to GBV response interventions.
Ensure safe, confidential, and ethical collection, management, and sharing of GBV data in accordance with agreed procedures and protocols.
Ensure timely submission of weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity reports and maintain proper documentation and filing systems.
Participate in monthly wereda/zonal-based coordination meetings and represent the organization as required.
Maintain strong working relationships with community leaders and partner organizations within the wereda.
Maintain accurate records of activities and prepare regular reports, including weekly and monthly updates, Situational Reports (SitRep), success stories, and lessons learned.
Actively contribute to fostering a positive and collaborative HG team environment
Human Resource Management & Capacity Building
With support from HG HR, conduct performance evaluations of social workers promptly.
Adhere to HG PSEA and safeguarding policies
In collaboration with the GBV project coordinator, design and monitor capacity building strategies for GBV staff.
Ensure social worker support and debriefing processes are in place, and that social worker safety planning is conducted and regularly updated.
Develop, implement, and promote effective team communication techniques and systems.
Contribute to a positive HG team environment
Coordination & Collaboration
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with other HG sectors and operations personnel to ensure that the program is properly supported and that all project-related operational activities are conducted according to HG HR, Logistics, Finance and other policies and procedures;
In collaboration with the GBV project coordinator, promote and represent the interests of the GBV program with regards to all relevant stakeholders.
Perform any activity assigned by immediate supervisor.
Safety and Security
Works closely with the Security Officer in monitoring the evolving safety and security situation in the geographical location of the project activities and ensures that project operations comply with the safety and security guidelines.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
Typically, a Master's/ bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or law. Gender studies or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Typically, Minimum 3-4 years of experience
Trained on IASC GBV Case management and facilitation skills for outreach/awareness raising activities.
Experience in psychosocial support, WGSS safe space activities, women empowerment, life skill trainings, counselling, and GBV case management.
Experience in community mobilization, awareness raising, organizing of campaigns, and implementation of prevention strategies.
Experience working in GBV programming in a humanitarian context is a plus.
Previous experience living in a hardship environment.
