Job Summary

The Gender Facilitator will provide technical leadership and support in gender and protection programming, with a focus on GBV prevention, response, and mainstreaming. The role will strengthen WGSS activities, referral pathways, and community engagement to ensure survivors and vulnerable groups receive timely, appropriate, and holistic support.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Facilitation

  • Facilitate WGSS activities, including psycho-social support, awareness sessions, and community outreach.

  • Support the design and implementation of GBV prevention and response interventions.

  • Conduct training and capacity-building for staff and community members on gender, protection, and safeguarding.

  • Ensure referral pathways are updated, functional, and accessible to survivors.

  • Monitor and report on GBV and protection activities, ensuring adherence to “do no harm” principles.

Coordination & Networking

  • Act as focal point for gender and protection within MLWDA projects.

  • Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, and community leaders to strengthen GBV response and protection systems.

  • Represent MLWDA in relevant protection and gender forums, clusters, and working groups.

Planning, Reporting & Accountability

  • Prepare regular progress reports on gender and protection activities.

  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and challenges to inform future programming.

  • Ensure accountability mechanisms (feedback and complaints systems) are functional and accessible to beneficiaries.

Safeguarding & Protection Mainstreaming

  • Promote safeguarding policies and ensure staff and community awareness of reporting procedures.

  • Integrate protection and gender considerations across all MLWDA projects.

  • Identify and refer at-risk individuals to appropriate services.

  •  Perform other activities as assigned by line supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Law, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in GBV, protection, or gender programming within NGOs or humanitarian settings.

  • Strong knowledge of GBV guiding principles, case management, and referral systems.

  • Excellent facilitation, training, and community engagement skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders under challenging conditions.

  • Commitment to safeguarding, gender equality, and humanitarian principles
