Minaye PLC is seeking a visionary and results-driven General Accounting Division Head to lead our entire general accounting function from our Head Quarter. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for the overarching integrity of the company's financial operations. You will be the senior-most leader for accounting team, driving financial governance, ensuring absolute compliance, and transforming the division into a center of excellence.
This position goes beyond traditional accounting; it is about setting the strategic direction for financial reporting, internal controls, and process optimization. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with a deep understanding of IFRS, Ethiopian tax law, and the ability to mentor a high-performing team of accountants.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume ultimate responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in strict compliance with IFRS.
- Lead the strategic direction of the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and strict adherence to corporate deadlines.
- Provide high-level financial analysis and insights to the executive team to drive strategic decision-making.
- Act as the primary financial liaison for external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a large team of finance professionals fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Oversee the full spectrum of accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Inventory Accounting, and Treasury.
- Streamline and standardize accounting operations by identifying and implementing opportunities for automation and optimizing the use of the company's ERP system.
- Architect, implement, and monitor a robust internal control framework to safeguard company assets, ensure data integrity, and prevent fraud.
- Ensure full and proactive compliance with all statutory and tax regulations, including corporate tax, VAT, withholding tax, income tax, pension, and cost-sharing.
- Lead the preparation and coordination for all internal and external audits, ensuring the division is always "audit-ready."
- Collaborate with the team to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Drive the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's Degree (MA) is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Candidates with a BA must possess a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in general accounting and 6 years if there is MA in Accounting.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a senior supervisory or management capacity, leading a team of accountants, is required.
