In 2020, ENITCO embarked in agricultural export business.          Job Title – General Accounts & Export Financial Accountant

         Place of Work – Addis Ababa

Job Purpose 

The General Accounts & Export Financial Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial operations related to general accounting operations and export activities. This position requires a deep understanding of international trade regulations, currency exchange, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the import/export sector and be able to navigate the complexities of cross-border transactions. This role requires strong financial skills, understanding of export documentation, and the ability to manage cost and reporting for international trade.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

Export Accounting & Financial Duties:

  • Maintain and manage all financial records of export operations, including cost accumulation and analysis for each export product

  • Coordinate with shipping, customs, and clearing agents to ensure smooth export operations

  • Monitor receivables and payables specific to export transactions

  • Conduct cash management, treasury duties, and weekly cash flow reporting for export activities

  • Perform bank reconciliations and prepare balance sheets for export operations

  • Analyze export costs and suggest improvements for operational efficiency

  • Prepare statutory tax declarations (VAT, withholding tax) and statistical returns related to exports

  • Assist in audits for export accounts

General Accounting Duties:

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including posting transactions and maintaining financial records

  • Reconcile bank statements and accounts regularly

  • Prepare financial reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual)

  • Support budgeting and cash flow monitoring

  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations and company policies

Job Requirements

Education: BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in export/import companies

  • Knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and export financial regulations

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software applications and MS Office (Excel, Word)

  • Strong understanding of IFRS principles

  • Ability to handle export documentation and LC monitoring

  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
