Job Summary

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly competent, experienced, and results-driven General Accounts Head to lead and oversee the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and ERP-based accounting processes. The ideal candidate should have strong technical accounting expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to ensure accurate financial management while improving accounting systems and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the accounting team, including senior and junior accountants and cashiers, ensuring effective task allocation, performance monitoring, and timely completion of responsibilities.

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including financial transactions, general ledger management, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and cash management.

• Manage and ensure the effective use of the company’s ERP accounting system (Marakisoft), maintaining accurate financial records, proper workflows, and reliable reporting.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes and prepare accurate financial statements, cash flow reports, and management reports.

• Monitor financial performance, analyze budgets and variances, and provide financial insights to support management decision-making.

• Ensure compliance with applicable IFRS standards, Ethiopian tax regulations, and internal financial policies and procedures.

• Oversee tax calculations, tax filings, audit preparations, and the timely resolution of audit findings.

• Monitor inventory, fixed assets, rental income, project costs, and other financial activities, ensuring proper documentation and accountability.

• Strengthen internal controls, identify financial risks, and continuously improve accounting procedures and reporting systems.

• Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information and support the Finance Manager in financial planning and operational decisions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, or a related field. A relevant professional accounting qualification is an added advantage.

• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, with proven experience in supervising and leading an accounting team.

• Strong hands-on experience in ERP-based accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and system management. Direct experience with Marakisoft ERP is highly preferred.

• Sound knowledge of IFRS standards and Ethiopian tax laws and regulations.

• Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, and audit procedures.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial analysis capabilities.

• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• High level of integrity, accountability, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
