Job Purpose:
The Medical Doctor is responsible for diagnosing, educating, and treating clients to ensure that they have the best possible care and treatment experience. The main duty of the general practitioner is to undertake comprehensive history documentation along with proper physical examination. It is also required that, based on the history and physical examination, tailored laboratory tests be investigated with proper optimal diagnosis and treatment.
Take a comprehensive medical and social history of all clients with proper documentation
Undertake focused and well-documented physical examination.
Order and interpret tailored laboratory tests
Clearly document diagnosis and treatment plans
Provide comprehensive counseling and education on health problems identified, as well as treatment provided
Provide HIV/AIDS counseling, testing, and care, and support services
Provide ART for HIV positive clients as per the national guidelines
Treat and manage OIs and other forms of advanced HIV disease
Provide chronic care and follow-up services to clients on long-term care.
Identify clients who require referral services and refer to the proper higher-level health service center
Provide mentoring and consultation to other health care staff in the clinic.
Provide support to the clinic manager in the planning and coordination of clinical activities
Ensure standard infection prevention precautions are practiced and the clinic environment is friendly both for the providers and users.
Record all services and activities into the information system being used in the clinic.
Provide other clinical and medical services as required
Participates in capacity-building initiatives such as training of health workers
Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of clinic and outreach-based activities to identify any gaps/challenges and propose timely solutions
Act as a team leader for health workers and enforce teamwork spirit
Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Qualification and work experience:
Educational requirement
MD with professional license
Required Professional experience:
Minimum of 3 years of post-internship clinical experience; prior experience in a private or medium-sized clinic is an asset.
Having a family medicine specialty training is a plus,
Experience in cost-sharing or social enterprise healthcare models is a plus.
Proven leadership or supervisory experience in clinical settings is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies
Strong clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills.
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team-building capacity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in both Amharic and English
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is an added advantage.
Familiarity with Ethiopia’s Essential Health Service Package and national treatment protocols.
Reputable skill and attitude towards evolving comprehensive and personalized care in holistic approach.
Working Conditions
The position is based in Addis Ababa, with occasional outreach or field-based activities.
Flexibility to work extended hours (weekends or evenings) as per clinic schedules and needs.
