Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, with mining operations in multiple countries including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM holds a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three Exploration Licenses for its Ethiopian project. These licenses are located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, in the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently engaged in both mine development and exploration activities at the site.
KGM is searching for Grade Control Drilling Technicians to ensure the accurate and efficient extraction of ore in mining operations. They will work closely with geologists and mining engineers to implement and manage drilling programs, analyze geological data, and contribute to optimizing the mining process for maximum profitability and minimal waste. Duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

Planning drilling patterns, overseeing drilling schedules, and ensuring proper marking out of drill holes.
Logging drill cuttings and core samples, ensuring accurate data entry into databases, and analyzing geological data using specialized software.
Working with geologists, mining engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Ensuring the quality of samples and data, monitoring drilling performance, and identifying and addressing any issues.
Analyzing data to understand ore loss and dilution and recommending strategies to minimize these losses.
Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI): Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience
National Diploma in Exploration/Geology or related field will be beneficial
Relevant Technician Training: Formal training programs or on-the-job training in areas like grade control procedures, sampling techniques, and geological mapping will be an advantage.
Technical Skills:
Mining Experience: Some experience in a mining environment, preferably in open-pit operations, is preferred.
Grade Control Experience: Direct experience in grade control activities, such as drilling, sampling, and geological mapping, is a significant advantage.
Drilling and Sampling: Experience with drilling equipment and techniques, as well as sample preparation and analysis, is crucial.
Other Requirements:
Grade Control Procedures: Understanding of the principles and practices of grade control in an open-pit mining context.
Geological Mapping: Ability to accurately map geological features and structures in the pit.
Sampling Techniques: Proficiency in collecting representative samples for analysis.
Data Management: Experience in managing and recording grade control data, potentially including the use of specialized software.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and potentially other mining-related software.
Safety: Knowledge of mine safety regulations and procedures, as well as the ability to work safely in a mining environment.
Physical Fitness:
The ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an outdoor mining environment.
Communication Skills:
Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with other team members - English proficiency will be an advantage.
Teamwork:
The ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve grade control objectives.
Problem-Solving:
The ability to identify and resolve issues related to grade control activities.
