Job Summary:

The Head of Financial Control & Operations leads all accounting and financial operations at Kavod Commercial. You will own the full financial control function — from day-to-day accounting to statutory compliance, project cost management, and treasury — while building a high-performing finance team that supports executive decision-making and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations & Accounting 

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations 

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and on schedule 

• Maintain the integrity of financial records and ensure compliance with IFRS and Ethiopian accounting standards

Treasury & Cash Management 

• Lead treasury operations including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and banking relationships 

• Oversee payment verification and coordinate approval workflows across departments 

• Optimize working capital and ensure sufficient funding for project and operational needs

Payroll & Labor Compliance

• Manage end-to-end payroll operations ensuring accuracy and timeliness 

• Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian labor law, tax regulations, and pension/social security obligations 

• Maintain payroll records and coordinate with HR on headcount and compensation changes 

Construction Project Cost Accounting 

• Oversee cost accounting for all active construction and development projects 

• Track budgets vs actuals, flag variances, and provide project-level financial reporting to leadership 

• Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams on cost controls and contract financials

Internal Controls & Audit 

• Design and implement internal control frameworks across finance and operations 

• Coordinate statutory and external audits — acting as the primary liaison with auditors 

• Identify control gaps, drive remediation, and ensure findings are closed within agreed timelines 

Leadership & Reporting 

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team 

• Deliver accurate and timely financial reports, dashboards, and analysis to the CFO and executive team 

• Support strategic planning, budgeting, and financial modeling as needed

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred 

• Minimum 6 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role 

• Solid knowledge of Ethiopian tax law, labor law, and financial regulations 

• Hands-on experience with construction or real estate project cost accounting is a strong advantage 

• Proficiency in accounting software (ERP/QuickBooks/SAP or equivalent) and advanced Excel 

• Proven track record of managing audits, implementing controls, and leading finance teams
