Role Summary

Hydrogen Pharmaceutical PLC is looking for a professional, organized, people-oriented, and responsible Human Resource Officer to support the company in managing its human resources and administrative activities.

The HR Officer will be responsible for recruitment and selection, employee onboarding, personnel records, attendance and leave management, payroll coordination, performance management, employee relations, staff development, HR policies, and labor-law compliance. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, confidentiality, integrity, and the ability to work effectively with employees and management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Management, Business Administration, or with related field of study

Experience:

  • 0 year

  • Previous experience in HR or HR administration is preferred.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical equipment, trading, or distribution companies is an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment & Selection

  • Coordinate recruitment and selection processes.

  • Prepare and publish vacancy announcements.

  • Screen CVs and shortlist qualified candidates.

  • Coordinate interviews, assessments, and reference checks.

  • Prepare recruitment documentation and employment offers.

  • Support effective employee onboarding and orientation.

Employee Records & Administration

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files.

  • Maintain employee databases and HR records.

  • Prepare employment contracts, appointment letters, confirmation letters, and other HR documents.

  • Monitor employee attendance, leave, overtime, and staff movements.

  • Ensure HR documentation is properly organized and up to date.

Payroll & Benefits Coordination

  • Collect and verify monthly attendance and payroll information.

  • Coordinate payroll-related information with the Finance Department.

  • Maintain records of salaries, benefits, allowances, deductions, and employee changes.

  • Support preparation of payroll reports and related documentation.

  • Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation information.

Performance Management

  • Support employee performance appraisal and evaluation processes.

  • Coordinate probation and employee confirmation processes.

  • Assist managers in setting employee objectives and KPIs.

  • Monitor performance-management documentation and deadlines.

  • Support performance improvement initiatives.

Training & Development

  • Identify employee training and development needs.

  • Coordinate internal and external training programs.

  • Maintain employee training records.

  • Support staff professional-development and capacity-building initiatives.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a professional point of contact for employee HR matters.

  • Support resolution of workplace concerns and employee grievances.

  • Assist management with disciplinary and employee-relations procedures.

  • Promote a positive, respectful, ethical, and professional workplace culture.

HR Policy & Labor Compliance

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and updating HR policies and procedures.

  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable Ethiopian labor laws and regulations.

  • Maintain appropriate employment documentation and records.

  • Support management in implementing company rules, procedures, and disciplinary standards.

HR Reporting & Workforce Planning

  • Prepare monthly and periodic HR reports.

  • Monitor staff turnover, recruitment, attendance, leave, and workforce statistics.

  • Maintain accurate employee headcount information.

  • Support workforce planning and organizational development.

  • Provide HR information and recommendations to management.

General Administration

  • Support general office administration and employee welfare activities.

  • Coordinate staff communications and HR announcements.

  • Assist in company events, staff meetings, and employee engagement activities.

  • Perform other HR and administrative duties assigned by management.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of Ethiopian labor law and HR practices.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and HR information systems.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.4 Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The HR Officer will be evaluated based on:

  • Recruitment effectiveness and timely filling of vacancies.

  • Accuracy and completeness of employee records.

  • Timely attendance, leave, and payroll coordination.

  • Employee onboarding effectiveness.

  • Performance appraisal completion rate.

  • Staff training and development coordination.

  • Employee retention and engagement support.

  • Compliance with HR policies and labor requirements.

  • Timeliness and accuracy of HR reports.

  • Quality of employee relations and HR service delivery.
