Background
IHS has been providing humanitarian assistance to refugees in Ethiopia since 2013, working with refugees and displaced people. WASH, Child Protection, protection, education, food security, and livelihood is major areas of focus.
Job Purpose:
To provide effective IT support and administration services that ensure the reliability, security, and efficient operation of the organization’s technology infrastructure and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support
Respond to and resolve IT-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
Provide first-line support for hardware, software, and networking issues.
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with computers, printers, phones, and other IT equipment.
2. System Maintenance
Ensure routine maintenance and updates of IT hardware and software.
Monitor and maintain computer systems, networks, and servers.
Assist in system upgrades, installations, and migrations as needed.
3. Website and Social Media Monitoring
• Monitor the organization’s website to ensure continuous availability, functionality, and security.
• Update website content and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure information is accurate and current.
• Monitor website performance, traffic, and user engagement using analytics tools.
• Identify and report website errors, broken links, and security vulnerabilities, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Manage website backups and support disaster recovery processes.
• Provide technical support for website hosting, domains, and email systems.
4. Social Media Monitoring
• Monitor the organization’s official social media platforms to ensure proper functionality and accessibility.
• Track social media performance metrics and prepare periodic analytics reports.
• Monitor social media accounts for unauthorized access, security threats, or inappropriate activities.
• Support the maintenance and security of organizational social media accounts.
• Assist communications staff in publishing digital content and resolving technical issues related to social media platforms.
• Maintain records of social media account credentials and ensure compliance with organizational IT security policies.
• Monitor online presence and report any reputational risks, misinformation, or fraudulent use of the organization’s name, logo, or branding.
5. User Support and Training.
Provide training and support to end-users on IT systems and software applications.
Develop and maintain user guides, FAQs, and training materials
6. Documentation and Reporting.
Maintain accurate records of IT issues, resolutions, and system configurations.
Document recurring issues to identify trends and recommend improvements.
Prepare and submit regular reports on IT support activities and system performance.
7. Asset and Inventory Management.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
Assist in procurement and deployment of IT assets.
8. Network and Security Management.
Assist in monitoring network performance and connectivity.
Ensure systems and data security by applying appropriate policies and procedures.
Support in managing backups, antivirus software, and patch management
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Relevant IT certifications
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support or a similar role in NGO
Safeguarding and Compliance
Ensuring compliance with IHS`s PSEA, Child Safeguarding, Anti-Fraud, and other policies.
Ensuring Code of Conduct and prevention from sexual exploitation and abuse policies, and uphold the highest standards according to her/his area of responsibility.
