Job Summary
ATTA Trading Plc, a member of ATTA Group, is a reputable company engaged in construction and international trading activities, including the import and supply of construction materials, equipment, and related services. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and competent International Trade Officer to manage and coordinate the company’s import and export operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth logistics operations, accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery of goods.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or with related field of study
Experience:
Minimum of 2–5 years of relevant experience in international trade, import/export operations, or logistics coordination
Experience working with clearing and forwarding agents
Experience in construction-related trading or material importation
Quantity Required: 3
Workplace: Head Office, Addis Ababa

Duties and Responsibilities
Import & Export Coordination
Plan, coordinate, and execute import and export activities in line with company procurement and project requirements.
Follow up on international orders from placement to final delivery.
Monitor shipment schedules and ensure timely dispatch and arrival of goods.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare, review, and manage all international trade documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading / airway bills, certificates of origin, customs declarations and related documents
Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian customs regulations and international trade laws.
Liaise with customs authorities and clearing agents for efficient clearance processes.
Logistics & Supplier Coordination
Communicate and negotiate with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers.
Coordinate shipment bookings, transportation arrangements, and delivery schedules.
Track shipments and proactively address delays or logistical issues.
Cost Control & Procurement Support
Assist in cost estimation, freight cost analysis, and price comparison.
Support procurement processes by providing logistics and import-related insights.
Identify cost-saving opportunities in transportation and sourcing without compromising quality.
Monitoring & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of all import/export transactions and shipment status.
Prepare periodic reports on shipment progress, costs, and trade activities.
Ensure proper documentation and filing for audit and compliance purposes.
Problem Solving & Coordination
Resolve issues related to shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, or customs clearance challenges.
Coordinate with internal departments such as Procurement, Finance, and Project Teams to ensure smooth operations.
Support project teams by ensuring timely availability of imported materials.
Additional Responsibilities
Stay updated on changes in trade regulations, customs policies, and logistics trends.
Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of international trade procedures and documentation
Good understanding of customs clearance processes and regulatory compliance
Familiarity with freight forwarding, shipping procedures, and logistics coordination
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail
Strong communication and negotiation abilities
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Proficiency in MS Office applications (especially Excel)
Good command of English (written and spoken)
Familiarity with Ethiopian import/export regulations and procedures
Knowledge of ERP systems or logistics management systems is an advantage
