About Us:

Consortium of Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations (CEHRO) is a Consortium of 32 CSOs working on Human Rights, democracy, and peace-building, and registered under the Civil Society Organization Proclamation No. 1113/2011 with Registration No. 3932. CEHRO is working to promote the protection of Human Rights, improve the culture of democracy and peace-building serve as a common platform for members, and to initiate evidence-based advocacy. It also works to strengthen the capacity of existing and new Human Rights CSOs, defenders, and advocates.

In this respect, CEHRO planned to offer an internship opportunity for young women human rights defenders. This internship is a great opportunity for students and recent graduates who are interested in human rights, democracy, and peacebuilding related advocacy. Hence, interns will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including researching human rights issues, writing reports and articles, organizing events and workshops, and conducting advocacy campaigns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with the project officer, Project coordinator, manager to establish priorities, schedules, and deadlines for task.

  • Assist in the development of Project Proposal

  • Assist in scheduling meetings and appointments, collecting field supportive supervision data, compiling reports, and summarizing information

  • Assist logistic facilitation in workshop/event coordination/facilitation

  • Assist to compile reports about particular events, or updates about an important issue for the implementation of the project activities

  • Promptly respond to occurrences and other events as necessary

  • Proactively solve and address issues that could hinder the effective implementation of the respective project activities

  • Prepare weekly reports, briefings, training minutes, and analytical documents and contribute to the production of project documentation and reports

  • Execute other tasks as required

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • This internship program will be provided for young women who are recent graduates or within a year after their graduation or Masters Class students or PhD candidates in law, social/political science, international relations, journalism, or other relevant fields of studies.

Competencies:

  • Communication skills: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively, listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately, asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest in having two-way communication;

  • Consistently approach work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude;

  • Remains calm, in control, and good humored even under pressure; Diplomatic Skills

  • Ability to write clear and concise reports

  • Uphold accountability, transparency, and integrity of the organization

  • Proven advocacy, analytical and writing skills

  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher)

  • Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage

Language requirement

  • Fluency in spoken and written Amharic, English, and other local languages is a plus

Location: CEHRO is looking to recruit two (2) interns and they will be based at the main office

Duration: Six (6) months.
