Job Summary
The Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing and ensuring accuracy of inventory records, accurately counting, recording and supporting efficient warehouse operations. The role ensures that physical inventory matches system records and helps prevent stock discrepancies, losses, and operational inefficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular physical stock counts (cycle counts and periodic full inventory audits) and reconcile with system records
Investigate, report, reconcile and resolve inventory discrepancies between physical count & system records (shortages, overages, damages)
Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records using manual and/or computerized systems
Track stock movements including receipts, issues, transfers, and returns
Work closely with warehouse, finance, and sales teams to maintain accurate stock
Maintain accurate documentation of stock counts, reports and related tasks.
Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged stock and report for action
Maintain proper storage and handling practices to minimize damage and loss
Prepare periodic inventory reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for management review
Ensure compliance with company inventory procedures, policies and internal controls
Assist in inventory audits and stock reconciliation processes.
Ensure proper labeling, categorization, and storage of items.
Monitor stock movement and report unusual variances.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse, or storekeeping roles
Experience in trading companies or FMCG environments is an advantage
Familiarity with inventory management software (ERP systems preferred)
Strong knowledge of stock control procedures and documentation
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Integrity and accountability
Good communication and teamwork abilities
