Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Auto Services Foreman, the  Junior Auto Mechanic I, is responsible for performing minor services and repairs on vehicles in a safe, efficient, and economical manner; working under close supervision of the immediate supervisor or senior technicians to achieve an acceptable level of work and maintain quality standards at all times.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Makes sure that all vehicles received for repair and servicing are requested by customers and have a work order;

  2. Ensures the tools and materials required for repair purposes are available;

  3. Performs minor services and repairs on vehicles as per job card utilizing the necessary tools, equipment, and facilities, in a safe and efficient manner within the standard job time defined by the company;

  4. Assists the Technician Crew  in the disassembling and assembling  activities;

  5. Participates and assists in performing general repair works, such as, brakes, wheels, suspensions and removing/replacing complete units and related parts utilizing the necessary tools and equipment;

  6. Performs minor repair works on cooling system, fuel system and the like;

  7. Reports additional defects discovered during repair to supervisor or senior technicians, so that defects are recorded on job card and repairs are carried out;

  8. Requests spare parts for vehicles under repair upon the approval of the Shop Foreman;

  9. Fills required service data in the job slip;

  10. Uses safe working practices and procedures at all times and in particular to comply with company safety regulations, including the wearing of protective clothing;

  11. Takes good care of tools and assigned equipment and learns the safe operation of standard testing devices to detect and correct mechanical malfunctions;

  12. Performs other related duties as required.

Job Requirements

From recognized college/TVET level IV /10+3/ diploma in Auto-Mechanics/Automotive Technology and relevant technical training

Or

From recognized college/TVET level II /10+2/ certificate in Auto-Mechanics/ Automotive Technology and 2 years related work experience plus relevant technical training
