The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
Duties and Responsibilities
The junior researcher has the responsibility to explain the objectives, procedures, risks, and benefits of the study to all staff involved in the research and ensure they understand everything related to the research.
To coordinate the activities and health staff within the study site (Asayta hospital) and ensure due tasks are properly done in a timely manner. Specifically he/she will make sure that the right health staff (e.g. medical doctors, health officer, nurse, laboratory technician) is assigned for each task, that they fulfill correctly their given task, including the signing of participant consent forms, that health staff involved in the study fill their work long hours correctly, and that aliquoted samples are properly stored and shipped
To coordinate the financial aspects of staff payment at the study site (e.g. collecting log sheet with working hours and sending them on a regular basis to AHRI so that payment can be organized) as well as other administrative matters.
To support the coordination of logistic, such as transporting stored samples or consumables/equipment needed for the study
To provide his/her best efforts and use all of his /her experience and knowledge to carry out his/her task.
To liaise with the responsible study staff within the RRS-camp in Asayta and ensure activities are done as per schedule. When any deviation occurs, they have to report immediately to the project coordinator.
To liaise on a regular base with the project coordinator
To intervene in any gaps of duties (eg. conducting interview etc) and acting as a link person between the project personnel, hospital technical staff and admin.
To inform the project coordinator if they face any challenges that hindered the sampling of data.

BSc Degree in Laboratory Technology/Nurse or related field
CGPA of 3.00 for male and 2.75 for females in the first degree is required
